Do any of you have empty shampoo or conditioner bottles in your shower?  I do.  It’s this thing that happens every few months when the shampoo runs out.  I set it on the shampoo rack thinking, “I don’t want to rinse it out right now to put in the recycling, I’ll do it later.”  The thing is that it would take me less time to rinse it than to write this blog entry, it is one of those silly things that I know is silly but do anyway.  I was musing about this odd element of my behavior while showering recently.  See I am not much of a procrastinator in general, in fact I was often teased in college for having my papers done before they were due.  But shampoo bottles – can’t get to those in a timely manner :) A matter of priorities.  I suppose it does no real harm to have it sit there a while longer until the next one is empty and I can rinse two at once!  :)

I signed the paperwork today for the community education program through which I am going to be running a summer camp!  Woo-hoo!  Now is the fun part – coming up with all the activities!  The possibilities are endless and I am so excited to be thinking about what we could do for those two weeks!  I have to remind myself that I have lots of time to get the summer planned because I have a lot of other things to focus on right now – like grad school class!  So, I guess I won’t really have a lot of planning time until the end of the school year, but the wheels will be turning! :)

Napoleon met some new dog friends today.  He got to go play with Cleo, my sister’s dog and Sadie, my mom’s dog.  We were afraid that he would be kind of skiddish but he actually seems to do better around other dogs that he does around other people.  We did have a traumatic experience earlier in the day however, with a scary sounding paper shredder!!!  He about jumped through the wall when I put a piece of paper through it.  But he got over it after he sniffed it to make sure it was okay. Dogs are funny.  :)

This evening I attended a young alums event for CSB/SJU with some college friends.  We had a great time bowling and chowing down on appetizers at a local bowling alley.  I am not a good bowler, that was most certainly confirmed this evening.  The odd thing is that I am not a good bowler on the first throw – I gutter balled it the first time during many frames.  BUT, then I often bowled a pretty decent second throw.  I don’t get it - stage fright that first throw?  Not sure, I’ll have to work on improving my overall throwing skills! :)

This morning I was driving to work and got to see one of my favorite things.  As I pass through the farm fields lined with small trees and shrubs, leafless, it’s like passing through a crystal world.  All of the trees had a thick frost on them today and as the sun shined it made every inch of branch sparkle as if someone had come in the night, covered every branch with glue and sprinkled the trees with glitter.  It’s one of my favorite things…

Napoleon! Our guest dog for a little while.  The first photo is the very first time he had his picture taken with my camera.  The second photo is of me trying to take another photo and him refusing to look at the camera because there was a scary red light on the front of it :)   He’s been settling in quite well, getting used to us and becoming a bit more playful and a little less frightened.

I am noticing that on Tuesday nights I feel least motivated to blog.  I think it is because I have night class and don’t get home until a little after 9 pm.  So then I eat a snack, chat with Tim a bit about his day and by then it’s late and I’m sleepy.  So, tonight is a boring blog, just a blog about how I am too tired to blog :)   It’s been a good day, a certainly bloggable day, but I am just unmotivated.  So, on future Tuesdays don’t be surprised if I am equally uninspired and tired :)

The turkeys are back!  Exciting news from my place of work :)   You see, we have this group of 9 turkeys that frequent the facility.  They come to eat seed a couple times a day and the kids are always SO excited to see them.  They’ve been absent since just after Thanksgiving – perhaps they were mad at us for eating their kin :)   Well, it was probably actually because they didn’t get any seed for a few days and may have given up on us.  And then the lack of snow makes it easy for them to find lots of food elsewhere.  But, lo and behold, the snow came and the turkeys are back!  Alll 9 of them.  And today they stayed by the building for almost 3 hours eating seed!  Yipeee :)

Napoleon is adjusting to our house fairly well, with the exception of one room – the kitchen.  He is not a fan.  We aren’t sure why – the tile maybe?  He won’t go more than a few steps into the kitchen before turning around and running back to the safety of the couch :)   As a result of his skiddish nature I did not take a photo to post here yet, I think the flash might scare him.  So, in a few days when he is a bit more adjusted I’ll post a photo for you all.  The adventures continue… :)

The dog finally arrived today!  Though, it turns out that unaccompanied dogs do not arrive in baggage claim, they arrive in a different building a little further down 494 – who knew?!  But, we got him, his name is Napoleon.  He took a little while to venture out of his crate once we got to our house, but eventually he came out and went straight to the couch and laid down next to us.  Our original plan was to not allow him on the couch, but when we put him on the floor he ran back to his crate and curled up in the back, refusing to come out again until we called him back to the couch.  So, he sure suckered us!  :)   He’s a little dog and doesn’t seem to shed much so we are okay with the couch thing.  He’s resting quietly back in his crate now for the night…more adventures to come I’m sure! :)
