It is days like tomorrow that make me sad I no longer have a garage to park my car in :) So, do you think we will really get 6-10 inches, or do you think the meteorologists are just getting excited? We’ll see I guess!

I’ve decided that in the absence of an outdoor job that I should probably change my credit card from the one that gives me 1% back in REI spending money to one with different rewards. I am finding myself with REI dividends to spend and no longer a need for large amounts of outdoor clothing. So, I turned a new leaf today and applied for a new form of plastic. I am trying out a card that claims 1% back on everything and 3% back on my “top three categories” of spending every month – I am guessing it will turn out to be gas, groceries and household goods! Home improvement supplies are not included because we also just got a new Menards card that gives 2% back on all Menards purchases – why didn’t we get that one 2 years ago! We’d be rich! :)

My mom, sisters and I made cookies tonight, LOTS of cookies. And now my house is full of cookies! Yum. But that’s also a lot of sugar to have around the house – I will have to restrain myself! Here come the holidays! :) And Happy Birthday Mom!

Well, we almost finished the electrical, but as with all home improvement projects there are always unforeseen issues :) Tonight we “went fishing” – translation, we were trying to fish new wire through conduit (the metal tubing) to replace old wire in order to add a light fixture to the switch – we need more light in our stairwell to meet code requirements. We got one wire through, but the conduit is not large enough to fit the two necessary wires. Hmmmm…. Looks like we might have to remove most of the conduit and fish it only through the vertical portion that goes through the wall. I guess we’re not finishing tonight :) Oh well – weekend project!

I was just chatting on the phone with my friend Heather and we were discussing the extent to which our computers weave through so many things in our lives.  We pondered the fact that when a computer “dies” for a day or so we feel lost and don’t know what to do with our time!  So, in efforts to overcome this feeling we have decided to do a “computer off” day sometime soon.  The date is yet to be determined, but I will let you know when this frequent technology user will be powering off for a day.  I think I will need to start a list of what to do on that day!  Perhaps I’ll type it – ha ha ha :)

Only 4 light fixtures and 3 switches remaining before we are done with the electrical rough-in downstairs!  Then we cross our fingers.  We are guessing that something will not meet code and need to be re-done, we are just hoping that it is nothing major!  Send good vibes :)

Yesterday a crew of my family went to cut down Christmas trees together. Tim and I decided that this is probably the earliest in the Christmas season that we have ever put up our tree. Probably ma good thing though, I don’t if when we would have gotten to it otherwise with all the business in the basement! Here are some photos, including our fully decorated tree and our favorite ornament :)

After two days of eating, eating and eating some more I don’t think I can ever eat again :)   My favorite of all the dinner sides is a sweet potato dish my mom makes.  I don’t know if it can be consider a side though, it should really be called a dessert – it’s covered with pecans on brown sugar – yummmmmmmm!!!  We cut down a Christmas tree too, so we are in full swing of festivities now.  Now that the eating is winding down it is time for continued work in the basement!  Electrical and subfloor here we come!

Okay may be not.  But it felt like one! I sometimes forget how far away some suburbs are :) Today I needed to run some errands that involved a trip to Shakopee. It’s a long way from my house! At least gas prices have come down a bit :)

But I’m really not.  I just feel like one because I sent about 300 emails from work today!  Yikes.  See I am in full swing with recruiting for the Summer internship at Breakthrough so I emailed TONS of people today – education profs, multicultural club leaders, directors of non-profits.  Yowsers!  That’s a lot of emails.  Hopefully it will result in a lot of great applicants! :)
