I’ve developed a number of symptoms over the last couple days that I would typically chalk up to a nasty virus, or really bad cold.  However, my symptoms also align with all of those of H1N1.  The problem is that the doctors cannot tell you if you have H1N1 with certainty, as they have to send the samples out to the state lab to be tested, and they are only doing so for people with severe cases.  Since my illness is relatively mild, I am instructed to stay home and avoid other people for 7 days from the onset of symptoms, or at least 24 hours after my fever goes away, just in case it’s H1N1.  My boss, who is pregnant, agreed that I should stay away until next week (pregnant women are especially at risk).  The big bummer is that she will have to run the new teacher training this Saturday.  Thankfully, I have all of the materials ready to go, and am completely confident in her ability to run the show, and she is excited to do so.  I hate being sick.  So, I’m in self-quarantine, probably for the rest of the work week given that I still have a fever.  At least I have my laptop, and can still do some work from home when I have the energy to do so. Here’s hoping no one else catches what I have!

Hope it will pass soon.  Not fun. :(

Tim and I went on our annual anniversary camping trip this weekend.  We ventured to Itasca State Park to check out the fall colors and the headwaters of the Mississippi.  Tim’s brother, Andy, and Andy’s wife, Karen, joined us on Saturday for a bike ride.  It was a great time!   I’ll post more photos in a few days, but here’s one of us at the headwaters as a preview :)

Grey’s Anatomy is back!  I am not a big TV watcher, but I am addicted to Grey’s Anatomy :) It was a pretty intense episode, but I’m glad to have my fave show back on TV!

I’ve known for a while that I wear many hats, but I at times get reminders that make me chuckle.  Tonight, for instance, I was replying to program directors from a variety of college access organizations as I worked to schedule meetings with them as part of my final grad school project.  Each time I typed my “signature” at the bottom, with my affiliation to the U of M, I almost started typing the name of the real estate brokerage I work for :) I’ve done a lot of real estate transactions this summer, so the muscle memory in my fingers certainly favors that signature over the newer grad school one that’s coming into use.  Too funny.  They would certainly be confused if I typed the wrong one, so far I’ve caught myself every time :)

I just finished reading my first graphic novel, Persepolis.  It was an intense read, but definitely a good one.  I highly recommend it if you want to try out the graphic novel genre, and learn a bit about the history of Iran in the process.

I ventured to Rochester today to visit a friend that I’ve known since 5th grade!  My friend, Shelley, is pregnant and due in November, and we were LONG overdue for a visit.  It’s been about two years since I saw her.  I got the tour of their new (at least since two years ago) house, and we enjoyed some scrumptious dinner and pie.  It was a great evening, and it’s hard to believe that next time I see her she’ll be holding a little baby!  I’m mad at myself for forgetting to get a photo with her, but I’ll get one the next time! :)

Tim and I had some friends over last night for what is usually a fall bonfire & BBQ, thought it felt more like a 4th of July gathering, due to the warm weather :) It was a beautiful evening outside, and it was great to catch up with people from a variety of circles in our lives.

I don’t get much time to watch TV, but for some reason it’s always refreshing when the new TV shows return in the fall.  Tonight, I caught the first episode of The Office, it was pretty good.  I’m am most anxiously awaiting the return of Grey’s Anatomy!  :)

It’s been a long and busy few days…this gal is headed to bed!  No energy left for a longer blog tonight :)
